Road Works Report for Week Ending Friday, 21^st November, 2008

 

1.         B4267 - Leckwith Hill - on going signals will be in operation at this location, this is to allow essential drainage work to take place, it is expected that these signals will be required until the middle of next week.  Every effort will be made to remove these traffic signals during peak hours. 

 

2.         A4055 - Cardiff Road, Barry at its junction with Little Moors Hill - three way temporary traffic signals will be in operation over the weekends of the 15^th - 16^th and 22^nd - 23^rd November, 2008.  This is to allow essential sewer works, delays are to be expected. 

 

3.         A4055 Cardiff Road- between Barry and Dinas Powys - off peak temporary traffic signals in use to allow essential tree work to take place, Wednesday, 26^th November, 2008.

 

4.         A48 - Cowbridge By-Pass - on going lane restrictions and 40 m.p.h. speed limit to facilitate essential bridge maintenance.  It is expected that this work will be ongoing for some months. 

 

5.         Spring Street at its junction with Morlais Street, Barry - ongoing roadworks to allow essential sewer work. 

 

6.         A48 just east of St. Nicholas - temporary traffic signals in operation to allow the removal of scaffolding following the replacement of overhead power cables, on Sunday, 16^th November, 2008. 

 

7.         The Closure of the Westra, Dinas Powys – is proposed for Monday, 17^th November, this is to allow essential water main refurbishment.  It is expected that this closure will be required for around 4 weeks, diversions via St. Andrews Road and Argae Lane shall be in Place.

 

8.                     Romilly Park Road at its junction with Lakeside, Barry – ongoing roadworks for approximately one week to allow the construction of a pedestrian island.

 

9.                     Over the next week resurfacing work will also take place at the following locations:-

 

Lakin Drive, Barry Monday, 17^th November - Wednesday, 19^th November, 2008

 

Pontypridd Road Junction Severn Avenue, Barry ongoing until Monday, 17^th March, 2008

 

B4267 - South Road, Sully - Wednesday 19^th - Wednesday, 26^th November, 2008

 

Localised traffic control will be in operation to allow these works to take place.

 

10.                   St. Brides Road, Wick - intermittent temporary traffic signals to allow the repair of a leaking water main, between Friday, 17^th and Tuesday, 19^th November, 2008. 

 

11.      Town Hall Square, Cowbridge - the road to the western side of the Town Hall will be closed on Sunday, 16^th November, 2008, this is to allow essential work to a water main.  During this closure, the section of Town Hall Square to the east of the Town Hall will revert to two way traffic. 

 

12.      Eastgate, Cowbridge - temporary traffic signals in place on Sunday, 16^th November, 2008, this is to allow essential work to a water main. 

 

13.      Holton Road, Pedestrian area - the pedestrian area will remain closed to all traffic including delivery vehicles until 9.00 p.m. on Friday, 21^st November, 2008.  This is to allow the switching on of Christmas Illuminations.

 

 

ADVANCE NOTICE

 

1.         High Street (between Market Street and East Street, Island Road (between Broad Street and Queen Street) Barry - will be closed on Sunday, 23^rd November from 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.  This is to allow a Victorian Day to take place. 

 

2.         Penarth Christmas Illuminations - will require the closure of A4160 - Windsor Road (between Arcot Street and Albert Road, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Also Glebe Street (between Ludlow Street and Windsor Road) will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, 30^th November, 2008. 

 

3.         Llantwit Road, St. Athan (between Rectory Road and Llantwit Gardens) - will be closed between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, 2^nd December to allow the switching on of Christmas illuminations.

 

4.         Station Road, Dinas Powys - Friday, 5^th December will be closed between Britway Road and the Star Hotel, from 5 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.   This is to allow a Dickensian Evening to take place. 

 

5.         Glebe Street, Penarth - will be closed on Saturday, 6^th December from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  This section to be closed is from Ludlow Street and Windsor Road and is to allow a children’s event to take place.
